Year One!

By News

I can’t believe that this Saturday, the 13th of September will mark the anniversary of Northwinds first beer release, Corduroy Rye IPA. It’s been one hell of a year getting all the bits and pieces together to open the Brewhouse & Eatery and I wouldn’t change a thing. Thanks to everyone who helped make Northwinds Brewhouse possible. I couldn’t dream of a better team of people working together. Thank you!

The Brewhouse at 499 First St. in Collingwood opened the first week of August and I truly hope everyone who has had a chance to stop in has enjoyed all the amazing food, atmosphere, and beery creations. I also hope to see y’all back again to keep checking out what’s new. I’ve always got some new creations under fermentation, so keep checking back for the updated draft list and retail beer selection. My goal is to ensure that you get the freshest beer possible while always showcasing a wide variety of styles. Don’t worry, if one of your favourite beers suddenly disappears from the draft or retail store it’ll probably return again at some point. It just takes time and when you see it again you’ll know just how fresh it is. That’s the true beauty of this set-up.

This Saturday we’ll be releasing a harvest beer with a twist. The Beet For Red Hoptober is a beer brewed with wet hops straight from the vines at Bighead Hops and roasted golden and red beetroot from Roy’L Acres. I really love the aromas and flavours that come out of this brilliant crimson beer. There is a really nice balance between the caramelization of the beets and a earthy, piney, and orange rind aroma and flavour from the super fresh oily hops. This was just a fun way to celebrate the harvest and relationships with these passionate farmers.

Stay tuned into the ol’ blog as I’ll do my very best to keep it updated and current with all the new beers coming up and musings of Northwinds Brewhouse life.

Your friendly neighbourhood brewer,

– Bartle

It took forever to find the right space for Northwinds Brewhouse & Eatery but we now have the keys and a great location along First Street (Highway #26), Collingwood’s commercial corridor. We are excited to announce that construction begins today! Fabrication of our brewing system started a while back and we hope to open the restaurant and bottle shop in late spring 2014. Expect a wide variety of ultra-fresh craft beer, a full local menu and an atmosphere unique to this region. Check back for updates on our progress. We look forward to seeing you all in a few short months
