History

Session Ales are a relatively new style with no true definition yet. It is designed as a beer as rich and flavourful as an IPA, with all of the bitterness, hop aroma, and malt character, but with half the alcohol.

Tasting Notes

Cloudy bronze in colour with a thin white head. A dominant aroma of tropical fruits with light notes of biscuits and honey, the taste is up front bitterness with a touch of doughy sweetness and a sharp bitter lingering aftertaste. Relatively high carbonation helps to clear the palate and lends a feel of tartness and acidity.

Broken Paddle Cream Ale

History

Cream Ale is one of the few beer styles native to America. During prohibition in the US many Canadian brewers took to brewing this style, and as always, made it better. When prohibition ended, Canadian made cream ale became a popular style in the US, and Americans brewers took to brewing it again.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw in colour and bright, this beer forms a thin white head when poured. The aroma is malt dominant with just a hint of cascade hops. The taste is clean and refreshing, very well balanced, with neither hops nor malt being assertive. This also leads to a very clean aftertaste, leaving the mouth wanting more. Carbonation is relatively high to add some mouth feel and adds to the refreshing flavour of the beer.

Yacht Club Mild Ale

History

Mild Ale didn’t originate as a style yet, as a description of young or really fresh beer in the UK. This grew to become a lower alcohol beer that was lightly hopped and had a malt forward focus. It was one of the most popular styles up until the 1960’s. Here is an tribute to this great beer style.

Tasting Notes

A rich deep copper colour with a tight white head with a light sweetness on the nose and caramel malt with very low hop aroma. The flavour is balanced and clean, with just a nice sweetness and moderate earthy bitterness. The beer finishes very clean and semi-sweet.

A hazy orange with a white head, lots of pine, gooseberry, and grapefruit zest. The flavour boasts a lot of bitterness, but is balanced by a sweet body, and just a light lingering resinous bitterness. This is just big and juicy. Drink fresh!

Pretty River Kolsch-Lagered Ale

Pretty River Lagered Ale is a tribute to the Kolsch style of beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. being one of a few traditional all barley malt ales in Country dominated by lagers. It competes with the other top fermenting Alt Beer from Dusseldorf, Germany, a copper coloured ale. The Kolsch It is a straw coloured beer with a noticeable hop presences, yet focusing on the malt character with a subtle fruity palate from the special ale yeast. The beer is fermented cool in comparison to most ales and then lagered at 0oC for an extended period of time to give this ale a refined flavour. The water profile in Collingwood is perfect for brewing this style of beer. This is such a delicate beer and easy bridge to cross into the world of craft beer.

Tasting Notes

This is a straw coloured beer with a tight white head. The aroma has lovely notes of pear, bread, light apple and a subtle noble hop character. The flavour is focused on the grainy malt character with a nice mineral content and with a noticeable hop character to balance this effervescent and dry beer.

Corduroy Rye IPA

Red Sunset Irish Ale

While the history of the Irish Red Ale may be a little foggy of it’s exact origins, it stemmed from English ales into the Irish brewing tradition with took on a style of it’s own. The bitterness is lowered and almost tea like, with a lovely sweet body and the addition of roasted barley to give the beer it’s reddish colour and a dry finish

Tasting Notes

A beautiful deep copper with rich red hues and aromas of sweet caramel malts, a slight earthy hop note, and very low esters. The flavour has a wonderful malty sweetness with a herbal hop balanced and a nice drying finish due to the roasted barley. A lovely approachable beer with a lot of character.

Tasting Notes

A beautiful cloudy beer golden in colour with hints of orange and tight bubble head. The dry hopping gives this beer a great citrus aroma, lots of orange, tangerine, clementines, and a nice resiny hop character. The flavour is light, a nice creamy body but, boasts lovely citrus flavours from all of the hops. There’s no lingering bitterness, as it’s nice and dry.

This is a big, juicy, highly-hopped, full flavoured beer. This beer was not meant to voyage, it’s meant to be drunk fresh to ensure the big citrusy, piney aroma is as fresh as can be. This beer is one of the ultimate reasons to drink fresh, local, unfiltered, and hand crafted beer!

Tasting Notes

A hazy copper coloured beer with brilliant orange hues and a rich white head. The aroma is big, resiny, sticky, oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, pine, with touches of caramel. The flavour is loaded with citrus, the same resiny, sticky hop flavour, yet a nice malty – caramel background to “balance” the hop bitterness. A full bodied, semi-sweet finish.

Route 26 Brown Ale

This spawns from English style brown ales, however uses all American ingredients. The big difference from most other English style brown ales is that this particular brown ale has a bigger and fuller body with a slightly more assertive hop profile.

Tasting Notes

A rich deep brown with a very deep red hue and a nice off white head. This has nice toasted aroma with lots of nutty and caramel over tones with an underlying resiny hop kick. This has a big body, boasting all of the lovely toasted malts, just a big chewy and nutty ale with a nice bitterness to keep this beer from having any lingering sweetness. Semi-sweet finish.
