Pretty River Kolsch-Lagered Ale

History

Pretty River Lagered Ale is a tribute to the Kolsch style of beer brewed in Cologne, Germany. being one of a few traditional all barley malt ales in Country dominated by lagers. It competes with the other top fermenting Alt Beer from Dusseldorf, Germany, a copper coloured ale. The Kolsch It is a straw coloured beer with a noticeable hop presences, yet focusing on the malt character with a subtle fruity palate from the special ale yeast. The beer is fermented cool in comparison to most ales and then lagered at 0oC for an extended period of time to give this ale a refined flavour. The water profile in Collingwood is perfect for brewing this style of beer. This is such a delicate beer and easy bridge to cross into the world of craft beer.

Tasting Notes

This is a straw coloured beer with a tight white head. The aroma has lovely notes of pear, bread, light apple and a subtle noble hop character. The flavour is focused on the grainy malt character with a nice mineral content and with a noticeable hop character to balance this effervescent and dry beer.
